The Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management (AARM) Program of AIT hosted a month-long Internship/Training Program for 44 master’s students and 5 faculty members from the Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai, India from 10 January to 8 February 2023. CIFE is a premier research organization and a Deemed University under the Indian Council for Agricultural Research (ICAR), India.
Dr. Krishna R. Salin, Program Chair of AARM who organized this event, welcomed the students to AIT and highlighted the key achievements of the AIT’s Aquaculture Program in advanced research and outreach programs that keep the AARM Academic Program highly relevant in Asia’s higher education landscape.
Students from various research streams such as Aquaculture Technology, Fish Nutrition, Aquatic Health Management, Genetics and Biotechnology, Fisheries Resource Management, and Fisheries/Aquaculture Economics, and Fisheries Extension participated in this training program, and received customized internship sessions based on their areas of specialization.
Resource persons from AIT, Thai Department of Fisheries, Kasetsart University, Centex Shrimp, Mahidol University, Burapha University, National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) Thailand, Network for Aquaculture Centers in Asia Pacific (NACA), Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center (SEAFDEC), and several private aquaculture farms and hatcheries contributed to this event. The students had an excellent learning time in Thailand throughout this internship program.
