
Pathum Thani – Six students from the Aquaculture Science Department, School of Life Science, Huzhou University, China, successfully completed a two-week internship program at the Aquaculture and Aquatic Resources Management (AARM) Program, Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), from August 18 to 29, 2025.
The program combined academic lectures and field-based learning, providing participants with exposure to aquaculture practices in Thailand. Students attended lectures on seed production, fish nutrition, and advanced aquaculture vaccinology, and participated in field visits to key aquaculture facilities, including the Department of Fisheries’ Inland Fisheries Research and Development Center, hybrid catfish hatchery, polyculture farm, koi carp farm, seabass and giant freshwater prawn hatcheries, and Talaad Thai, the largest wholesale seafood market in ASEAN.
Practical training was also conducted at the AARM hatchery, where students engaged in Nile tilapia seed production activities, including egg harvesting and incubation, fry development observation, and hormonal feed preparation for sex reversal fry.
The internship provided students with enhanced technical knowledge, practical skills, and valuable insights into commercial aquaculture operations. It also contributed to strengthening academic collaboration between Huzhou University and AIT, supporting future cooperation in research and training.
